4 weeks old!!

We were sad to see Sarah go, but look forward to seeing her in Bolivar in a couple of weeks. Henry is 4 weeks old today! We had a great day today celebrating. Henry had a bath and slept most of the day. Our friend Cheryl came to visit and brought a very nice "mom and dad night out" present that includes free babysitting and dinner at the Mellow Mushroom, which we look forward to using when Henry gets a little bigger. Henry is smiling at us now and it is so neat! He is also losing his hair on the top of his head, leaving the sides and the back forming a perfect mullet. Grandpa Hacker and Uncle John call him "Henry Bobby"...I'm not sure this is funny. Today was a big day for mom, too, as I plugged in the monitors and actually left him sleeping while I did things in another room. We survived the separation, and I enjoyed getting some things accomplished. Uncle Terry and Aunt Emily arrive late tonight and we are looking forward to spending the weekend with them at the lake.

Spring!

We have had a beautiful weekend! Henry has really enjoyed Sarah's visit and will be so sad to see her go on Tuesday. The weather has been perfect. We have enjoyed several long walks and even a lunch out on Saturday. Henry loves the rides in his stroller and in the car - very soothing I think. He continues to grow and grow - we can't believe how big he is getting, and how his newborn look is disappearing. We laugh at his cheeks as they grow daily.

Longer nights...

Henry has awakened! Our nights are getting a bit longer, as Henry seems confused about when to sleep and when to play...he'd really like to play from about 2am to 4 or 5am. We are hoping he gets his schedule figured out soon, as we are getting sleepier and sleepier. On a lighter note, Henry is getting so big! We are amazed at how fast he is growing and how much he is changing. He smiles often and we love it, though we're not totally convinced it is voluntary. Today is a big day as Sarah is coming to stay with us for a week! Yea! We are all very excited. Henry and I started walking on the trail this week and we are looking forward to taking Sarah with us. The weather this weekend is supposed to be beautiful and warm, so hopefully we'll get lots of outside time with pictures. Until then...have a great day!

Two weeks old!

Henry's second week has been even more fun than the first. Daddy went back to work Tuesday, was home Wednesday and Thursday and will go back again tomorrow, on Friday. We are anxious to get outside and walk on the trail, but the weather has been so cold - it even snowed today. Hopefully soon we will be able to show Henry what spring really feels, sounds and smells like. Until then, we continue to play inside. Henry loves his rainforest swing and his activity mat. Just in the last couple of days he has begun to reach for his monkey, giraffe and elephant that hang above his head. We can't believe it has been two weeks - the time is flying by already...it is such fun!

Easter Weekend

This weekend was full of fun. Friday morning was Henry's first check-up and he passed with flying colors. He is already back to his birth weight and the doctor was very impressed with his physical exam. A proud Aunt Kim, visiting from Denver, accompanied us Friday morning, and spent the day at our house getting to know her first nephew. We received a super fun surprise Friday afternoon as Grandpa and Grandma Hacker surprised us with a visit! They claimed they were just "in the neighborhood." They were able to stay through Sunday morning, and Henry loved every minute of their visit. We'll take a surprise like that any time. Grandpa and Grandpa Beckman, Aunt Kim and Uncle Eric joined us for Easter dinner later in the day. Henry wore his new Easter outfit from the McCarthys and his new Easter bib from "Aunt Liz" for the occasion, and was as cute as a button. The Easter Bunny found Henry, leaving a basket for Henry to share with Daddy. Happy Easter.

One Week Birthday

Henry spent his One Week Birthday lounging around the house with Mom & Dad, posing for pictures, and getting a nice warm sponge bath. At one week, Henry's eyes are bright and alert as he observes his surroundings. Last night he woke once, at 3am, to eat and then slept until 7am - so we are hoping this continues. He remains a calm and happy baby, growing and changing everyday. We are still not sure who he looks like, though we may see hints of Uncle John's dimples. We look forward to celebrating Easter with Aunt Kim and Uncle Eric, visiting from Denver, and Grandma Carol and Grandpa Dan. Happy Easter.

Home sweet home...

We have been home for two nights and so far so good! Henry is a great sleeper, waking once around 2am for a snack, and then again at about 6am. This morning we all went back to sleep until about 9:00 which was great. Henry had his first bath this afternoon, and seemed to enjoy it after daddy got the water temperature warmed up. Our big outing today was to the garden in the backyard to check on the vegatables and pull the weeds. It was a beautiful day to be outside. PS Grandma and Grandpa - Henry misses you.
